Alaska Airlines has unveiled its first International Business Class Suites, marking a major step in its evolution into a global carrier. The new long-term product, launching this spring, features private luxury suites, an enhanced dining experience, and first-class lounge access. The announcement supports Alaska’s expansion into Europe and Asia, helping airlines compete in the first-class international travel market.

Redefining Long Term Comfort with Private Suites

Alaska Airlines is introducing a new International Business Class on its Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring a fully enhanced long-haul flight experience. At the heart of the product offering are 34 private suites with hidden seating, private sliding doors, and direct access to the runway.

Each suite is designed for comfort and functionality. The chair turns into a flat bed, while the area around it creates a rest area such as working, eating or relaxing. The room also features 18-inch HD entertainment screens, a library of over 1,500 movies and TV shows, noise-cancelling headsets, power supplies and wireless charging.

The onboard experience extends beyond the seat. Alaska has introduced a new dining concept that focuses on restaurant quality service, with menus inspired by the flavors of the West Coast and international destinations. The inflight service begins with a welcome offering that includes a cheese and charcuterie board, as well as a selection of wine, Champagne, cocktails and fresh coffee from Stumptown Coffee.

Passengers can choose from six main courses depending on the route, including regionally inspired dishes such as pasta carbonara on flights to Rome or Korean-inspired meals on flights to Seoul. The airline also offers a Chef’s Table entree created in collaboration with Seattle chef Brady Ishiwata Williams, featuring dishes such as braised ribs from local producers. The dessert service adds a bit more personal touch, with a build-your-own ice cream experience in collaboration with Salt & Straw.

Comfort is further enhanced with high-quality bedding designed in collaboration with Filson. Each room is equipped with a mattress pad, green pillow, lumbar support pillow, and oversized duvet, as well as amenities with skincare products from Salt & Stone and other travel essentials. Riders also receive a PATH Water-enhanced reusable water bottle.

“We are committed to creating a Business Class experience that is sophisticated, comfortable and well thought out in Alaska for our guests.” When we launch our new product this spring, it will raise the bar and redefine long-haul travel, while we continue to provide the amazing care that distinguishes Alaska on the world stage,” said Alaska Airlines EVP and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew.

Expanding Global Reach with Premium Experience

The launch of International Business Class Suites comes as Alaska Airlines expands its international network and strengthens its global footprint. The new non-stop routes from Seattle to Rome, Seoul, Tokyo, London and Reykjavík mark a major shift in the airline’s strategy, going beyond its North American focus.

The new product is closely tied to this expansion, which positions Alaska to attract premium travelers on different routes while providing a consistent experience across its network.

Passengers traveling in International Business Class will also benefit from access to Alaska’s premier lounges, as well as partner lounges through the oneworld alliance. This includes access to first-class lounges for premium members, adding to the premium experience of the airline.

The digital strategy and connectivity of the flight is also progressing along with the cabin upgrade. Alaska plans to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi to its 787-9 fleet later this year, bringing high-speed, gate-to-gate connectivity to long-haul flights. The service will be available free of charge to loyal members, reinforcing the airline’s perception of accessible, high-quality connectivity.

The new Business Class Suites are part of an extensive upgrade to Alaska cabins. Premium Economy passengers will get more legroom, upgraded seats, and upgraded amenities, while Main Cabin passengers will get better meals and better comfort on international flights. Passengers in both cabins will get a Filson blanket and pillow to help them relax. Premium Economy passengers also benefit from four more inches of legroom, power tools, 12-inch HD screens, complimentary beverages, and a Filson amenity kit.
